How Cheeky Chick Chronicles Was Born
One Monday morning, after yet another “well‑intentioned” meeting left me feeling invisible, I realized corporate America wasn’t broken for everyone—but it was definitely misfiring for women who look like me.

As a mid‑level HR professional, I did everything “by the book”: networking lunches, mentors, ERGs, Culture Circles, every D&I initiative I could find. I raised my hand for every project, wore wigs that made me less “threatening,” and performed my heart out—yet still watched others move miles ahead of me.
I learned the currency. I played the game. And still, I wasn’t mentioned in the meetings that truly counted.
I was too reliable. Too agreeable. Too easy to overlook. And I knew I couldn’t be the only one. So I started writing my thoughts in real time, taking them home, and turning them into this blog. I had something to say, something to share, and something more to give. That’s how Cheeky Chick Chronicles was born.
I chose “cheeky” because it felt friendlier than “sassy,” “feisty,” or “assertive”—and still bold enough to be true. I am all of those things, but they don’t define my whole story.
I didn’t want to just shut down and survive. I wanted to turn my observations into a way to thrive—showing how a slight shift in perspective can change the game. I tried silent compliance, overworking, and collecting more degrees, until I realized: it’s all just a game, and winning is a perspective.
I could still perform at a high level without obsessing over the title. I was already leading without influence. That’s when I decided to speak up and out on my own terms and build a community for others to do the same.
That’s why Cheeky Chick Chronicles is unapologetically sharp, sometimes sarcastic, and always rooted in real‑world corporate experience.
